what Hyrox taught me about investing

--

Arigato, dear investor,

I crossed the finish line… almost last.

And strangely, I’ve never felt more proud.

Yesterday, I completed my first HYROX — mixed doubles with my partner.

3 hours 7 minutes.
One of the last 3 couples to finish.

But it was one of the most unforgettable experiences I’ve had.

Because somewhere between the sled pushes, lunges, and pure exhaustion…
I realised:

This is exactly what investing feels like.

Let me share 3 lessons that stayed with me.

1. We’re all running our own race

It was our first HYROX.

We didn’t train much.
We didn’t aim to compete.

Our only goal was simple:
👉 Finish the race injury-free.

And we did it 🙂

Along the way, it was tempting to go faster.

You see people sprinting ahead.
You see others finishing stations quicker.

But we held our pace.
Because we also saw something else…

People cramping.
People pushing too hard.
People dropping out midway.

They started faster.
But they didn’t finish.
We did.

And that reminded me so much of investing.

It’s easy to feel behind when you see others:

  • Making faster returns

  • Catching “hot stocks”

  • Trading their portfolio for quick profits

But this is your race.

What truly matters is:
✔ Can you stay in the game?
✔ Can you be consistent?
✔ Can you survive long enough to compound?

Because investing is not about speed.

It’s about time in the market.

A simple example:
Even a ~10% annual return (like the S&P 500 historically)…

$10,000 invested over 50 years
can quietly grow into over $1 million.

Not because of speed.

But because you stayed in the race.

2. The right partner changes everything

There was one station — sled push.

152kg.

That’s almost 3x my body weight 😅

I could barely move it.

So my partner took on about 90% of it.

Later on, during lunges with a 20kg sandbag…

He was exhausted.

So I carried most of it.

We covered each other’s weaknesses.
And finished the race stronger — together.

And honestly… seeing other racers pushing through together
kept us going too.

That energy matters.

And it’s the same in investing.

When you have:

  • The right environment

  • The right people

  • The right support

You grow so much faster.

Not because it’s easier…
But because you don’t have to do it alone.

I’ve seen this again and again.

Some of my students started knowing almost nothing about investing…
Today, they can confidently analyse ETFs and present their ideas.

Growth happens faster when you’re not alone.

3. Investing (like HYROX) is for everyone

One thing I really loved about HYROX…

Is how inclusive it is.

You’ll see people from all walks of life:

  • First-timers

  • Everyday working adults

  • Older participants

  • Even teenagers

The official categories even allow participants from around 16 years old all the way to 80+ in age group divisions.

Yes — the workouts are challenging.

But they are also designed to be doable.

And investing should feel the same.

But many people think…

“Investing is only for the elite.”
“Only for people in finance.”
“Only for those working in banks or Wall Street.”

That’s simply not true.

Investing is a game anyone can learn.

I’ve seen it in my own community:

Different starting points.
Different backgrounds.

But all learning the same thing:

Because it’s never about:

  • Your age

  • Your background

  • Your experience

It’s about whether you’re willing to start.
And start simple.

That’s why I always believe:
👉 ETFs are one of the best ways to begin

And if you want to go one step further…

You can even learn how to use options
to generate additional income safely
the way famous investors like Warren Buffett have done.

If you’re someone who has been wanting to start…
but not sure how to begin,

I created a free masterclass to guide you step by step.

No overwhelm.
No complexity.

Just a simple path to get started the right way 🙂

Would love to have you join us,
