Scary
Absolutely.
Arigato, dear investor,
Taking a Sabbatical: Exciting? Yes. Scary? Absolutely.
It’s been a week since I made the decision to take a 6-month sabbatical to Canada. When I shared this, many of you congratulated me and called me courageous. But if I’m being honest… I feel both excited and terrified.
Because taking this leap also means letting go of things I’ve worked hard to build.
💡 I had to say no to a speaking opportunity at Google on investing with AI.
💡 I’ll be leaving behind my network in Singapore, missing potential collaborations.
💡 I have to fully take care of myself—no parents, no helper, no structured environment.
I always thought of myself as independent. But this decision made me question: What does true independence even mean?

Recently, at my friend Bibiana’s book launch, she shared something that deeply resonated with me. Many people knew her as "Bibi"—the high-achiever, the award-winning strategist. But no one knew "Anna"—not even herself. It took a long journey of self-discovery to finally bring both sides of her together.
It made me reflect: What am I chasing? What is enough? How do I find true fulfillment?

I don’t have all the answers yet. But I do know this: Sometimes, we need to step away from what’s familiar to truly discover who we are.
If you’ve ever thought about taking a sabbatical, questioning your purpose, or wondering what truly makes you feel alive—you’re not alone. I share more reflections in my latest blog post. Check it out here: 👇
