-24.7%? Just Do It!

Arigato, dear investor,

Did you know that Nike (originally named Blue Ribbon Sports) started by importing Japanese shoes (Onitsuka Tiger) into the U.S.?

Recently I found myself completely immersed in Phil Knight’s autobiography Shoe Dog. It’s not just a business book; it’s a raw, honest journey of how Nike, one of the world’s most iconic brands, came to life. I could feel the excitement, the struggles, and the relentless passion that drove Phil Knight and his team to transform an idea into an international powerhouse. 🤗

What began as a humble operation is now a global empire, with 58% of its sales coming from outside the U.S.! 🌍 That’s right — Nike’s international reach is so strong that its revenue from overseas markets surpasses its U.S. sales.

Let’s break it down:

  • United States: 42% of total revenues come from Nike and Converse sales in the U.S.

  • International Markets: A staggering 58% of revenues come from markets outside the U.S.

Nike’s growth story is one of resilience and innovation. Over the past five years, its revenue has grown steadily (18.67% total growth), even bouncing back stronger after a dip during the pandemic. Its EPS (earnings per share), while volatile, reflects its ability to adapt and thrive in challenging times.

Customer Journey

To better understand the business, it’s best for you to go through the customer journey and experience the magic of Nike. Nike recently launched its latest collection for men, and some editions are running a great promotion right now. Make sure to check it out to see how Nike attracts customers internationally and generates profits for investors like you and me! 👇️ 😀

Stock price - 24.7%

Despite the fact that Nike is a strong international brand, its stock has fallen over 24.7% in the last 5 years. Its P/E ratio is now at 23x, significantly below its 5-year average P/E of 35x. Could this be a good opportunity to invest in this giant?

Currently, I don’t hold any positions in Nike, but it’s looking quite attractive to me. If I were to consider entering, I’d likely use an options strategy to lower my risk while potentially boosting my returns.

Why does this matter to us as investors?
Nike’s success shows the importance of:

  • Global diversification: Expanding beyond borders for growth.

  • Brand power: How a strong, trusted brand drives sales across the globe.

  • Resilience: Overcoming setbacks and emerging stronger.

What are your thoughts? Would you consider adding Nike to your portfolio? 😊

Arigato for being part of this journey with me. Just like Nike’s story, let’s keep striving for freedom, resilience, and growth — the Arigato way.

Arigato!
