Arigato, {{ first name | dear investor }},
A few years ago, I thought paying income tax was just part of life.
Earn more = Pay more tax.
But then I discovered a legal way to reduce my taxable income by up to $16,000 every year in Singapore.
And the best part?
The money doesn't disappear into some tax-saving scheme.
Instead, it goes into my CPF and continues earning guaranteed interest backed by the Singapore government. 👀
Today, I want to share one of my favourite CPF "hacks" that many Singaporeans still don't know about.
Under the CPF Retirement Sum Topping-Up Scheme, if you're below 55 years old, you can:
✅ Top up up to $8,000 into your own CPF Special Account (SA)
✅ Top up another $8,000 into your loved one's CPF accounts
And in return?
You'll enjoy up to $16,000 of tax relief every year.
Now, this becomes especially attractive if you're a higher-income earner.
For example, if you're earning around $100,000 a year, reducing your taxable income by $16,000 could save you approximately $1,840 in income taxes.

But here's what makes it even more interesting.
The money inside your CPF SA and Retirement Account doesn't just sit there.
It continues earning a guaranteed 4% interest per year, backed by the Singapore government!!
But personally, I didn't stop there.
While I appreciate the guaranteed 4% return, I personally view it as a way to preserve wealth rather than a way to create a truly comfortable retirement.
After all, inflation itself averages around 3-4% over the long run.
So while 4% sounds great, it is not enough if you want greater financial freedom, retire earlier, or leave a larger legacy for their family.
That's one of the reasons why I started learning how to invest my SA.
I wanted my retirement savings to work harder for me.
Over the past 9 months, my SA investment portfolio has generated returns of over 8.8%, significantly higher than the default CPF interest rate.

I believe every Singaporean should at least understand the options available before automatically assuming that "leave it inside SA forever" is the only strategy.
